The
Word from the Streets -
September 12 , 2007
Namaste,
Today we headed out with 350 bagged lunches that were made by students at the Mt. Vernon elementary school. Each year they donate their time and efforts to help with our program. In years past, they even made homemade cards for our friends on the streets.
The Wednesday delivery team was large today and everyone had such a great time serving.
Our favorite security guard, Mr. Hightower, helped us at the shelter at Peachtree and Pine. When he helps, all goes very well. Everyone respects and likes this wonderful man. He told us today, with a twinkle in his eye… "I don't know what it is about you guys..the guys get so excited when you come every week. I don't see this except for the Ma Loves you days!"
At every location, everyone was very mellow and easy going. There is a whisper of Fall in the air that many are looking forward to.
Our Mark Thomas is in Tampa at Bible college and our friend Moses is heading down this coming Monday. We will miss him, yet we are very excited that they are in a good place! We told them both that we were expecting letters!
We are forever grateful to serve,
The Kashi Atlanta Ma Jaya's Street Meal Team
