The Yoga of Eating
with John Douillard

Master of Ayurveda and acclaimed author John Douillard taught how to use the practices of Ayurveda, the medical system of Yoga, to reduce stress, calm the body, and reduce fat and toxins in our body in a one day workshop on May 3, 2009. During the workshop, John taught how stress in our body is caused both by our lifestyles and the pollutants in the world around us. Stress, which our body naturally stores as fat, is the underlying cause of most diseases. It is these molecules that trigger emotional eating, causing us to eat the same comfort foods over and over again. In order to release these toxic chemicals and emotions from our fat cells, we must reignite the body's ability to burn stored fat as a major source of fuel. Once that is accomplished, we can free ourselves from cravings, balance anxiety and depression, and sleep better-in just two short weeks.
During the workshop, John taught us how to eat simply and become more attuned to the seasons and the natural rhythm of the earth. He taught how nature manifests within us, both in how we feel and the foods that we naturally crave, and how living in harmony with nature allows us to release stress. He also taught different breath techniques to reduce stress and strengthen our digestion to create optimal health.
