Kashi Atlanta offers ongoing instruction in several styles of yoga. Levels vary from beginner to advanced. Classes also include pranayama and guided meditation, as well as a class devoted to Spiritual Growth & Meditation. A broad spectrum of practitioners is represented, and each is encouraged to grow in awareness as they progress.

Spiritual Counseling Sessions are available with Jaya Devi, who is an ordained minister within Ma Jaya’s interfaith teaching, where you can address any personal challenges – spiritual, emotional, or physical – or develop a customized personal practice.
Private Sessions are available with members of our staff to thoroughly enhance your practice. Sessions are available in yoga, meditation, pilates, weight training, reiki and body work.

Ma Jaya’s Birthday and Sanyas Ceremony

Over 100 students from Kashi Atlanta attended Ma Jaya’s birthday celebration at Kashi Ashram in Sebastian, Florida this spring weekend. As part of the weekend celebration, each year one or two of Ma Jaya’s longtime students take sanyas or monks vows, dedicating their lives to serving humanity, and taking on the title of swami. This year, Jaya Devi Bhagavati, who runs the Kashi Atlanta Ashram, took her monks vows becoming Swami Jaya Devi. Uma from Kashi’s New York ashram also took her vows, becoming Swami Uma. Ma Jaya also gave Swami Jaya Devi the title of Yogini Acharya, or Teacher of Yoga.

As part of this timeless ceremony of renunciation, Swami Jaya Devi’s and Swami Uma’s heads were shaved, and then Ma Jaya covered them in ash, a symbol of purity. Swami Jaya Devi and Swami Uma then dipped three times in the sacred Ganga of Kashi Ashram. The rain and sun alternated throughout the evening, revealing the beauty of nature. Through the ceremony and the taking of their vows, the new swamis are reborn to live in this world, but not of this world. They also will wear orange as a symbol of their devotion.
