The Soul Has No Gender
with Swami Dhumavati

Kashi Atlanta hosted Swami Dhumavati from Kashi Ashram. She is one of Ma Jaya's sanyassin and a longtime resident of Kashi, Florida. In darshan (lecture and meditation) she helped us explore how the deep nature of one’s true self transcends gender. Ma Jaya teaches that the “soul has no gender,” and that God makes no mistakes in our divine creation. In this meditation and discussion, we went beyond the limitations and negativity of the mind that creates separation to the truth and wholeness of the soul.

Since moving to Florida to study with Ma Jaya, Swami Dhumavati has been deeply involved with service work in the HIV/AIDS community. Swami also serves on the Kashi Ashram's Board of Directors and runs Kashi Rainbow, the Ashram GLBT group. Swami helps facilitate workshops and intensive retreats with Ma Jaya, is a Kashi kirtan walla, and is pujari for Durga Puja fire ceremonies. In 2005 Swami Dhumavati took her vows of sanyassin.
